Dr.  Edwin Groot:  I  was born in the Netherlands and raised in Canada. At Miami University, in  Oxford, Ohio I completed my PhD in Botany with the thesis titled Growth analysis  of depth of toothing mutants in Arabidopsis thaliana and depth of lobing mutants  in Lycopersicon esculentum. I was employed since 2008 as scientist and lecturer  at the University of Freiburg. My research is currently on plant stem cells,  making use of live imaging, bioinformatics and plant biotechnology. I have  authored and co-authored 15 articles in various international journals. I have  taught courses in Biology, Soil Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics and Plant  Science.
